David Gauntlett

Remember him? We mentioned him last year in the Audiences and Institutions (Film Industry) paper. He is a very interesting UK based Media Lecturer and theorist.
Here is a link to his 'Ten things wrong with the Effects Theory' work. Worth a read.
This little video is essential viewing.
You know what to do...

3 minute definition of po-mo

This definition comes from Bill Kynes, a pastor in the US. The po-mo idea of the decline of meta-narratives (religious narratives included) is obviously important for many faiths. What do you think?

Lyotard - what is the postmodern?

Here is an interesting mini-lecture on Lyotard and 'the postmodern'. Mostly linked to philosophy and cultural studies but some good stuff on 'the grand narrative' or meta-narratives.
Can you link this decline in grand narratives to any postmodern works we have studied this year???

Welcome....

to the TCC Postmodernism blog!
A forum for all things postmodern...
At least in relation to the Critical Perspectives exam for the OCR A2 Level in Media Studies.
All students will have admin rights so you can post and comment to your hearts' content. You could even mention this in exam (if the question allows).
So, who is this theorist?
